As mentioned several months ago, I participated in the Tomato Nation donorschoose contest Sars holds every fall. One of the great things about donating to donorschoose is that you get thank you cards and photos from the students in the classrooms that specifically benefited. It really makes you feel like you've done something tangible and truly helpful. I just got one of my thank you packages, and the cards were too cute not to share! I encourage everyone to go to donorschoose and find a project that you want to support- I chose this project, which purchased big electric pianos for a grade school music class, because I love to play the piano. Here are a few:
Well, I've already screwed up NaBloPoMo. Poopy. I'm not participating officially but was kind of interested in seeing if I could keep up with y'all. I was reading a good book and ended up finishing it at about 3 a.m. this morning, so didn't even turn on my computer last evening. (Fool's Fate, by Robin Hobb, obstensibly the finale in a 9 book series, but the ending implies a sequel will be along sometime. Not that I'd mind, I'd love to hear more about the Fool and Fitz.)
Anyway, I just finished raking up about 1000 lbs of leaves and am sitting here watching the Ducks hopefully get one step closer to the Rose Bowl (35-16 right now, yay!!), and wanted to thank whoever recommended checking out the stuff at My Favorite Mirror. I got it all in the mail last week and everything is lovely. The mousepad is my favorite, and definitely brightens up a drab desk.
I also got the Alice in Wonderland coasters for my coffee table and the blue owl mirror for my purse- perfect for putting drops in my eyes when my contacts go dry!
Also wanted to throw out a conrats and an "AWESOME" to Sars and all her readers at tomatonation.com. She raised over $100,000 for donorschoose.org, a non-profit web site where teachers can submit requests for funding for projects for their classroom. If the donations hit $40k, she promised us that she would wear a tomato costume all day at work (she's one of the co-founders of TWoP and works at 30 Rock) and do a dance in Rockefeller Plaza. Which she did on Friday, click here for photos. If you'd be interested in donating, you can still donate and at the same time support Stephen Colbert's run for President!
